Soak split peas for 2 hours. In small bowl, blend coriander, turmeric, cayenne, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, & 4 tablespoons of water. Saute ginger, garlic & jalepeno for 1 minute. Add the spice paste, cook for 3 minutes. Add chicken, cook 4 minutes. Add split peas, cook 4 minutes. Sit in salt, water & boil cover simmer 40 minutes. In separate pan, saute onion in butter until golden brown. Add to chicken along with cilantro & tomatoes after the 40 minutes of cooking. Cover and simmer 10 minutes.
