  • Milk Powder - 1 cup
  • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 6 tbsp
  • Ghee or Oil - for deep frying
  • Milk - 2 tbsp(use more as needed)
  • Yogurt - 1 tbsp
  • Baking Soda - 1 large pinch
  • Sugar - 1 1/4 to cups
  • Water - 1 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Rose Water - 1 tsp

  1. To make sugar syrup, add water, sugar and crushed cardamoms in a pot. Boil until it turns slightly sticky. Add rose water and mix. Set aside to keep it hot. To make balls, mix flour with milk powder and soda in a bowl. Either sieve it or mix uniformly. Add ghee to it and mix well. Take a small bowl, mix together yogurt and 2 tbsp milk. Pour 1.5 tbsp of this to the flour mixture and make a dough. The dough must not be soggy. Divide to equal sized portions. Grease your fingers and make a ball. They must be smooth without any cracks. Keep them covered. Then heat oil/ghee in a pan with low flame. When the ghee is just medium hot, add the balls. Make sure the oil is not very hot. Fry the balls on a low flame until golden. Stir gently to fry them uniformly. Do not add hot jamun in the syrup, let it cool. Also check the syrup. If it is not hot, heat it up a bit. Then add the jamuns to the syrup, let it sit for 3 hours, then serve.
